We’re off! We’ve re-booked our flights, it’s final! We’re making the move to Timor-Leste (East Timor)!!
We will be flying to Darwin early on the 2nd of March, staying a night at YWAM and continuing on through to Dili on the 3rd. In Dili, we’ve organised to stay with a good friend of Cher’s who works for a Christian aid organisation. We’ll be meeting up with 2 other Aussie missionaries, one of which has already served in the village of Weberek, for several years as a midwife with YWAM. Together we will endeavor to organise a 4WD vehicle and plan a visit to Weberek ..
We don’t know the ‘how’ or ‘when’ yet but our aim is to live with and serve the people of the village of Weberek, high up in the mountains of Timor-Leste, by facilitating new and ongoing construction, village improvement projects and to also disciple the new Christian believers there. YWAM Timor-Leste (JOCUM) has had a good working relationship with the people of Weberek for the last 10-12 years and have done some amazing work there with the help and support of Peak Hill Uniting Church and the mayor of Parkes, NSW. We see ourselves in working alongside (but not under) YWAM, in aiding the continuation of the good works that God has begun in Weberek, collaborating first and foremost with the people of Weberek, Peak Hill Uniting Church, the mayor of Parkes, YWAM and then also other like-minded believers and NGO’s.
Before Cher and I fly to Timor-Leste we will be visiting my family in Sydney and giving our car to a good friend of ours there .. goodbye little red broom-broom!
Cher and I are certain that God has called us at this time to go to Timor-Leste and Weberek in particular. We’re excited and scared, as we’ve never done anything quite like this before! I guess you just need to have a little bit of faith sometimes! As the Bible says:
The just shall LIVE by faith.

And looking back, it’s amazing the way God has spoken to us and has prepared and equipped us for ‘such a time as this’ and also how He’s put us in touch with others who share the same heart and calling to the nation of Timor-Leste (East-Timor)! All praise to Him!
